Flexible Overnight Support for Your Newborn

Plan around returning to work, partner travel and help from family

Flexible overnight newborn support means choosing the nights and hours that fit your family, not following a fixed countdown. You might want more help when your baby first comes home, fewer hours while grandparents are visiting, and longer nights again when a partner returns to work. We can talk through those dates together.

I offer eight-, ten- and twelve-hour overnight care. Some families use the same length throughout; others change it over a support period of up to twelve weeks. The pattern can rise as well as fall. The important part is agreeing the schedule I can commit to.

Put the important dates on the calendar first

Start with your due date or planned start of support. Then note the changes you already know about: a return-to-work date, business travel, a grandparent’s arrival or departure, or the end of another person’s leave. You do not need an elaborate plan. A few dates and a sense of where you would value help are enough to start our conversation.

If your biggest concern is the morning before work, say so. If it is handling an evening on your own while your partner travels, tell me that instead. Choosing the start and finish times is as important as choosing the number of hours.

Choose the nights you most want covered

For the first two weeks, I offer five nights a week. Afterward, my preference is four nights per week on the days when you most prioritize care and support. Think about which nights would help your household most, rather than automatically choosing the same days each week.

Help from family can be part of the plan without replacing the support you want from me. For example, you may still want overnight care while a grandparent helps during the day, or want your longer nights to begin after their visit ends. Those are possibilities to discuss, not packages you have to fit into.

The hours can change without changing your whole plan

A possible pattern is twelve-hour nights early on, then ten, then eight. Another is eight-hour nights for a period followed by twelve-hour nights during partner travel. You can also keep ten or twelve hours throughout. There is no requirement to taper simply because another week has passed.

Use the current options below to compare nightly lengths and prices. We will confirm the dates, hours and total arrangement before care is booked.

Choose your nightly support

8 hours

8-hour overnight care

One baby$520 / night

Twins$600 / night

A full night of hands-on newborn care so you can get a good rest. The shorter overnight window works well when you don't need the extra evening or morning coverage.

10 hours

10-hour overnight care

One baby$650 / night

Twins$750 / night

Extra time at either end of the night makes room for a full night's rest, even if you're nursing or pumping. We can use that time for the evening handoff or the first morning feed before I leave.

12 hours

12-hour overnight care

One baby$780 / night

Twins$900 / night

The longest overnight option, with evening and morning time included. Some families choose this in the first weeks at home or during a return to work; others keep it throughout.

Make room for a useful handoff

When more than one person is helping, agree what each person needs to know. Tell me who will take over in the morning and whether there are particular updates you would like shared with you. Clear handoffs matter whether your next shift is with a partner, a grandparent or another caregiver.

My services page explains the care options, and the FAQ covers common booking questions. For a shorter gap rather than a longer plan, see requesting short-notice help.
