How many nights a week can I book?
For the first two weeks, I’ll do five nights a week. After that, my preference is four nights per week, on the days you most prioritize care and support. We will confirm the nights together before booking. Three-night-per-week plans and shorter periods of support are also options.
Can I change the nightly hours over time?
Your plan does not have to move in one direction. Keep 8, 10 or 12 hours throughout, taper to shorter nights, or return to longer nights when a partner goes back to work, travels, or grandparents are less available. We can plan a mix around your family, then agree on any changes and availability together.
How far in advance should I book newborn care?
For care lasting up to 12 weeks, I recommend booking during your second trimester—ideally around 20-24 weeks. This ensures your preferred dates are available. For short-term or customized care, 1-2 weeks notice is typically sufficient, though I’ll do my best to accommodate urgent needs based on availability.
In New York City, families often reserve newborn care with a deposit as soon as they know they’re expecting. If you have a specialist in mind, it’s worth reaching out early—even if you haven’t worked out all the details yet.
What are your rates?
Choose an 8-, 10- or 12-hour overnight block. The Services page shows the current nightly prices for one baby and twins. Your total depends on the hours and nights you book. A plan can stay steady, taper or return to longer nights as family needs change. I will confirm the schedule and total with you before booking.
Do you work with twins or multiples?
Yes. I have experience caring for twins and balancing each baby’s needs. I have also worked in households with more than one child, so I understand how newborn care fits around family routines and the time and attention parents have available. We can plan the hours and support around your babies’ needs. Twin prices are shown on the Services page, and we’ll discuss the details during your consultation.
What if my baby arrives early or late?
I build flexibility into all care schedules. If your baby arrives outside the expected window, we’ll adjust your start date accordingly. For full-care clients, I hold your dates with a reasonable buffer period. If your baby arrives significantly early and requires NICU time, we’ll work together to create a modified plan.
Do you support both breastfeeding and formula feeding?
Yes! In most cases, I can gently introduce you to breastfeeding. I can also help you know when to call a lactation counselor. I’m equally supportive of formula feeding, combination feeding, or exclusive pumping. Your feeding choice is personal, and I’m here to support whatever works best for your family.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life with a newborn is unpredictable! For full-care programs, I require 48 hours notice for individual shift cancellations. Short-term bookings can typically be rescheduled with 24 hours notice. Deposit policies and cancellation terms are clearly outlined in our service agreement.
Can you provide references from past clients?
I’m happy to connect you with former clients who can share their experiences. Many families I’ve worked with are willing to speak with prospective clients. I can also provide general testimonials and discuss my approach to care during our consultation.
Do you only work on the Upper East Side?
I work with families in Yorkville, across the Upper East Side, and in Long Island City. Read about Yorkville care or Long Island City care, or tell me your neighborhood when you get in touch.
What certifications and training do you have?
I’m a certified Newborn Care Specialist with current CPR and First Aid certification. I complete ongoing continuing education annually to stay current with best practices, safe sleep guidelines, and the latest research in infant care and development.
Do you do sleep training?
I use gentle, age-appropriate methods to help establish healthy sleep foundations from day one. True “sleep training” (teaching independent sleep skills) typically begins around 4-6 months. However, the routines and habits we establish in the early weeks make later sleep training much easier. I never use “cry it out” methods with newborns.
What does a typical overnight shift look like?
Overnight care is available in 8-, 10- or 12-hour shifts. We agree on the start and finish times together. During this time, I handle all infant care: feedings, diaper changes, soothing, sleep support. If you’re breastfeeding, I bring baby to you for feeds. I keep detailed logs of all activities, sleep, and feedings. You get uninterrupted sleep while knowing your baby is in expert hands.
What should I prepare before your first night?
Before my first shift, I’ll visit your home for a consultation where we’ll discuss your parenting preferences, feeding approach, and any special considerations. I’ll need a space to work (nursery or area where baby sleeps), all feeding supplies ready, and diapers/wipes stocked. I’ll provide a detailed checklist after you book.
How do you handle medical concerns or emergencies?
I’m trained in pediatric CPR and first aid. For any medical concerns, I’ll wake you immediately and we’ll decide together how to proceed. For true emergencies, I’m trained to take immediate action while contacting emergency services and notifying you. Your baby’s safety is always my top priority.
Do you offer daytime services?
My specialty is overnight care, but I can sometimes accommodate daytime requests as part of a custom care plan. If you need daytime support, let’s discuss your needs during our consultation and I’ll let you know if I can help or provide referrals to qualified daytime newborn specialists.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept checks, Venmo, Zelle, and bank transfers. For full-care programs, a deposit is required to secure your dates, with the balance due according to our agreed payment schedule.
