About Storkville Newborn Care and my approach to family care.
After having my own child, I understood just how fascinating—and utterly exhausting—the newborn stage can be. I became the person family and friends called when a new baby arrived. I found that I could read babies’ cues, help keep them content, and genuinely enjoy being with them.
I also saw how much rest changed the experience for new parents. When they were more rested, they had more interest, energy, and enthusiasm for the constant care their newborn needed. I kept thinking, “This should be a job.”
In 2018, I took a newborn-care class, earned an infant CPR certification, and began offering my services through a neighborhood mothers’ group. Someone I knew well became my first professional client in 2019.
From then on, my work grew entirely through word of mouth. Except for long stretches during early COVID, I have stayed solidly booked. My availability has sometimes been limited enough that families in my referral circle have waited for an opening.
My professional experience includes caring for babies with GERD, preterm babies, babies with colic, multiples, babies who were gaining weight slowly, and babies born to mothers who experienced complications from birth.
Across those different newborn experiences, the work is still rooted in what first drew me to it: reading babies’ cues, helping them stay content, and giving parents the rest they need to be present with their growing family.
